Who's this "we" that gave the "manchild" money? What do all these bitter resentful people want? For Elon to stop? How do you make any real progress, especially in fields that are stagnating or have no one working them, without hubris and lots of failure? Yes, Elon has made some regrettable statements but that's orthogonal to technical achievement.
Our society, as constructed, enabled him: here, and not some other place. Russia mints actively criminal billionaires. The US mints billionaire buffoons. (The more intelligent one is, the more scope there is for buffoonery.)
The US actually has way more criminal billionaires than Russia, but they usually do not seek attention, so you don't know about them.
