Valve adds documentation for Steam Deck development, suggests Manjaro Linux (gamingonlinux.com)

Manjaro is a great distribution. I love the team. It's fucking Disney's fucking Small World over there, right? People from all over the world coming together to build something together that we can all enjoy. The amount of work and dedication is inspiring.

And they provide several pre-built distro releases that provide great defaults. The i3 background alone has been a great help. Just a small thing that continues the philosophy behind the Arch wiki on education and help.

But I am wary of pacman update speed. Even with a "fast-track" rule, I only seem to get updates every couple weeks. Then it's a page-long dump of packages. I've tried multiple mirrors.

Probably some innocuous committee design decision of course. Or overworked testing team. There are reasons.

So I wander once again.

Suggests Manjaro Linux for now

> Steam Deck is running a different OS than Manjaro - and with the setup we've just shared, things specific to Steam Deck’s OS like gamescope and gamepad-ui cannot be tested for. We will be following up soon with an image you can use with your test machines that will incorporate these things. Once this is released, you’ll have an even more accurate test environment as compared to a Steam Deck.

Probably because preinstalled manjaro bloat includes Steam, which I never really understood.
