NVME-oF looks pretty convenient to use, you need two commands (guess since this is directly attached to a switch here only one client side command) to have a remote SSD show up in linux..it doesnt show up as a mounted drive but a /dev/ device…pretty neat.


Only for storage I guess. 25 Gbit is nothing in comparison to speed, and efficiency of PCIE.


Does it "speak" iSCSI or what?


It speaks NVMe. NVMe is the protocol, and it is used for both storage access and transport. iSCSI is just SCSI commands encapsulated in a packet and sent over an IP network.


It speaks NVMe-oF, which pretty much just wraps "raw" NVMe commands in transport protocols.
