This is most useful if, having detected an intrusion, you're able to do something to the intruders. Like a drone strike.

I do not recommend that organizations conduct drone strikes against attackers that are bamboozled by deception environments. There are a variety of constructive courses of action once an intrusion is detected (as we discuss in the paper) and violent revenge is not one of them.

You also have to place lots of "mines" or "tripwires" for intrusion detection even in the honeypots and fake environments.
