A lot of dongle talk seems weird to me. A to C adapters are cheap. Buy a bunch and leave them on the things you regularly use. No dongle to track.

It's still way more convenient to have the USB-A port built-in, even if you have myriad USB-C dongles.

I'm trialing switching away from an XPS13DE (Develoepr Edition) to some "cheap"-ish 600 dollar laptop from HP just because I literally cannot stand the fact that the XPS doesn't have USB-A ports. I notice the difference (my cheap laptop is so much nicer) since it's so much more convenient since a lot of things are still USB-A these days (eg. my Arduino uses a printer cable which is USB-A, my flash drives are USB-A, my HDMI capture dongle is USB-A, my cheap webcam is USB-A, et cetera). Even if I have myriad dongles, if I'm travelling away from home, I don't have to remember to bring those dongles with me anymore.

totally agree. A sucks, C is a way better port. leave the $2 adapters on your old a cables if you have to. total non issue.
