Out of interest, what makes all of these companies pursue 'internal tools' only (i.e. the tools can't be used for customer facing apps)?

Is the current sticking point auth & keeping data segregated?


I had assumed it was because people are pickier about look and feel for customer facing stuff than these platforms can support, but the point about auth is interesting.
