I knew Esperanto, but it's kind of alien and soulless.
Interlingua is readily understandable for a westerner and seems to check all the boxes - easy to learn, built on widely spoken languages (notably English, French and Spanish but void of their cultural bias), minimal grammar, gender neutral and coherent, orthogonal spelling rules.
It would be interesting if the EU would investigate using it as a working language.
