Why is everyone quitting, and how do I know whether it’s time to leave my job? (washingtonpost.com)

I for one, am fully on board with this movement!

Economic structures need to change and the "Proletariat" need to have their grievances addressed. For too long have they been "played" by the top 1%. Inequality has only grown and things have gotten worse for the "Working Man/Woman".

I sincerely hope, the "Industry Leaders" reform their Business Practices so that the "American Dream" (i.e. Work Hard and you will get a Fair Shake at Prosperity) can again be turned into Reality.

A good start would be 4 day work weeks. I'm so sick and tired of my friends being too busy to hang out. 2 Days is just enough time to rest up, have a day of fun with the GF/Wife/Family and get some things done around the house.

Instead of buying things which will materially improve their lives, people give their money to companies so that they can hire more people to work 5 days a week... instead of just building the life they want with that money. Our current work culture is bad for the economy, environment and social life, and is from an era before the finalization of heavy engineering and the start of automation.

> the pains are most acute among low-wage workers, who economists say are revolting against years of poor pay and stressful conditions

They aren't "revolt"-ing. The market is simply not offering a trade that's worth the time they have.

With inequality, inflation, and an economic system that functions the way it does, low wage workers are realizing that they are trading away their hours for very little of a thing that does not hold the value of their work hours.

Well said.

I am not sure. Don't forget that most people didn't even think about quitting their jobs in 2020 when most were just happy to get a monthly salary.

Now, things have changed quite significantly in 2021 and all the stacked up frustration can finally be released and people start finding new jobs.

If you're thinking about leaving your job, while it may not be time to leave, it's definitely time to test the market and brush up on interviewing. If you're working remote, it is trivial to interview from home during lunch and other breaks.
