Remember George Floyd? The ME ruled his death a homicide, and police officers' restraint of his body and compression of his neck were the primary causes[1]. Yet across many new stories the top mention was heart disease and drug use, and even SARS-CoV-2[2][3][4]. So even when the ME gets it right, social forces are quick to excuse cops.
