The computer chip industry has a dirty climate secret (theguardian.com)

TSMC indeed has a dirty secret and I thought it was a clever wordplay on the fact that fresh water consumption is a very large issue for chip manufacturers. once water is polluted with chemicals their reuse value is significantly damaged. Yet the article barely talks about freshwater. Someone reading that might not realise that when fresh water runs out, your only option is reverse osmosis. which still consumes more power than most businesses and people can afford.

and how is power consumption of large factories a secret?

TSMC has a dirty little secret! TSMC also sign largest ever power purchase agreement to buy all power from (if built right now) would be the second largest offshore windfarm in the world, for the next 20yrs… poor headline…

Extremely linkbaity title : the word secret does not appear in the article text.

That is because there are no secrets at all. Not only is it linkbaity, it also paints the industry as evil. Those evil corporations with their dirty secrets.

Human activity generates CO2, that's a fact, it has never been a secret. Except for people who do not want to see, hear or speak
