India's schoolchildren were devastated by lockdowns and online classes (qz.com)

This is something that’s not considered often by proponents of lockdowns and mandates. Children need social and intellectual development early on. Robbing them of those activities during crucial early years will likely have a lifetime of consequences. In truth, COVID-19 has low IFR for those under 50, and it is extremely low for minors in particular - potentially as low as 0.001%. Lockdowns are giving the elderly a few extra years while robbing the young for a lifetime. It would make more sense for the elderly to self-quarantine and let others, particularly children, go about their lives.

You think Indian schools have those in first place? Here schools are complaining about completing the syllabus. Majority of schools wont even have playgrounds. Here schools are just a scam to enroll max student, with a promise to make them study forcibly 12 hours per day, without any extra curricular activities. If anything lockdowns and online classes gave some relief to the pressure they go thru, from those engineer/doctor factories.

True. But teachers are often in the category where they are vulnerable. I personally know of 7 teachers who have died, (2 from my own school, out of 50 teachers there).

So while I 100% agree that this is not good for students, we need to think of a solution that doesn't place teachers in danger too.

We have to flatten the curve, that must be our first priority. Once we are done with that we can consider other unimportant things like health
