It would be very interesting to see what the workers saw when they found it. I'd forgive someone for thinking it was just a sunken log, going by the photo in the article, so I'm wondering what they saw that made them call the archaeologists.

This is pretty normal in the construction business. More often than you’d like the artifact ends up getting quietly disposed of to avoid potentially delaying the project for years.

Yea would be interested to know.

I would be thinking it's just some deadwood/log.

Maybe the skeleton was exposed?

Anyone have the (hopefully inevitable) link to an article with more pictures?

The axe with its wooden shaft intact is just fascinating, now we know what they looked like 4,000 years ago. Hopefully one day we'll discover intact swords so we know what they really looked like.

"You have my golf ball." "And my coffin." "And my axe!"

Actually there was a girl in Sweden who pulled a sword from a lake! Legend has it that she'll be the next queen.

It's a remarkably beautiful axe, as well. I bet it's wonderful to use.

It’s amazing golf has been so popular for so long. I’m surprised the burial plot in a golf course is not more common.

For tax purposes in Texas placing a burial plot over an oil well can be advantageous.
