Even so, you should provide some evidence to back up your claim. If you said "Fowler is the master of overcomplicating things, like in his work on A, or when he argued B", then people could engage with those instances or provide counterexamples. As it stands, your original comment is just flamebait.


Look at this way: you may not owe marquee consultants better, but you owe this community better if you're posting to it.

In other words, it's not only about the person you're attacking, it's about what it does to ourselves when we do it, and the others who are present.
