Ask HN: What premium on your compensation would get you to switch jobs?

There are plenty of reasons other than comp to stay at or leave a job, of course. But all other things being equal, what would it take for you to move on?

I have never switched jobs for more money. It always has been for new challenges, fresh opportunities. Yet each time it turned out to be for more money.

In hindsight, it is obvious. The "efficient markets" hypothesis confirms that doing the same work for a different company is not going to yield a big increment in pay.

Just talking money here? I would say a 20% increase + equity. The equity offer would have to be a grant, not an option.

Availability of 1/2 or 3/4 time positions, with commensurate reduction in compensation.

A close second would be a single-occupancy office with a door that closes.
