Someone, somewhere has a job that they need to get done, I'll do whatever I can to make it easier for them, if I understand what they are doing now, why it does and doesn't work, and the proposed solution, I'll be quite willing to do whatever is required to make that happen.
If you can't connect those dots for me, you're wasting a lot of time and effort, yours, mine, and the customers who aren't going to get the right solution.
I don't care what language, database, etc. is going to be used, except how it relates to reliability and maintainability. The computer, punch card, double entry ledger, tally stick, etc. are all just ways to manage data.
