Show HN: Ready UI – Bootstrap UI blocks (readyui.co)

While not trying to take away anything from the efforts of OP, I wish this was open source as the original framework is. I usually save the “kitchen sink” page for snippets with bootstrap and use those to build the equivalent UI’s. The messaging around this is all mixed. One time purchase but then says subscription. I won’t be using this as I’m not the intended audience I feel. It’s easy for me to just build a form or layout with bootstrap or ui-kit or name-your-css-framework with their included examples. Sometimes I’ve even bought a complete theme package off of sites like themeforest for the same price. Kudos to them though for trying to make it more accessible to new devs if that was their intent.

@gabereiser thank you for your kind words :) Our plan is fully one time purchase not subscription it's a mistake & we will remove it :)

Thank you

Keep going. Add more. Be the go to library of stuffs for devs looking to quickly build UI. I wish you the best.

@gabereiser Thank you & Kudos :)

> I wish this was open source as the original framework is

I believe it's a problem people believe all open source has to be free. And this includes businesses who think open-sourcing something necessarily means giving it away. In fact it is totally OK to ship an entirely commercial (one-time purchase or subscription) product together with its source code but license it the way people won't be legally allowed to distribute forks nor use it without paying. For users this is still better than no-source because good source code is of great value as a form of documentation at least.

That sort of arrangement is generally referred to as "source available" rather than "open source". The ability to fork and redistribute I think is typically considered a core aspect of open source.

And this product is presumably already source available since it consists of source code for you to integrate into your own projects.

I totally agree with you. My comment on it being “open source” was meant as more of an open code model with donations and contributions kinda thing. I can take bootstrap, or ui-kit, or whatever and build what I want with it. I can donate back. Source via paywall isn’t that helpful in this case as any “component” is easily created and styled by someone who has skills in html/css/js. As I mentioned, I sometimes will buy entire themes from sites that give me not only style but common components I can just implement. I’m not adverse to this, but to simply take away the theme and just provide components, to me, isn’t worth the paywall.

Feedback: the scroll position of the linked page jumps around quite dizzyingly on my iPhone 12 Pro Max / latest stable iOS as I make my way down the page. I’m not sure if this is due to image pop-in or something else, between that and the “white flash” effect when I loaded the page, I closed the tab from motion discomfort.

The blocks look good, but I couldn’t keep the page open. I suggest analyzing layout shift and removing the loading effect entirely.

There is some kind of custom scrollbar, which replaced my built-in browser scrollbar, and added to my confusion...

Although it looks very cool.

Sorry to not add to the conversation, but I can confirm I get the same effect on the same phone iOS ver, so it’s not just you.

@cyberge99 thank you for your feedback and Sorry for this problem, we will fix it. Thank you :)

@jitl thank you for your kind feedback.

Congrats on launch. Just bought the Pro version.

For anyone who uses Bootstrap I think the price is so low, its not even worth debating, after looking at examples.

@kumarm Thank you so much :) Welcome to Readyui family mate (y) <3

I’m personally a fan of products like this especially for early product development before there is a dedicated UI engineer on a team, I think it’s perfectly fair to pay a small amount of money like this.

I’ll give you the same feedback as I gave the chakra UI people in regards to the commercial use policy: Be explicit on whether redistribution in form of on-prem products is ok or not, it’s unclear (to me) in the current messaging. Best to explicitly call out, something like “use in your SaaS and on-prem product as well as internal systems”.

Edit: formatting

@brancz Thank you for your awesome feedback :)

With the one time purchase, is it correct to assume we'll have access to the tailwind release?

@slimskim Hey, yes of course :) .. not only just tailwind of this version.. you will access to our all of upcoming product as well :)

awesome, thanks! :D

From the website:

>What is your purchase plan? We don’t charge monthly or annually. You just need to pay once and you will get Readyui’s unlimited access for lifetime

However:

>Personal & Commercial use policy If you purchase our subscription then you are allowed to use it both personal and commercial purposes, for free version you can only use it for your personal purpose.

So which one is it? One time purchase or a subscription?

Hi, @artiscode our subscription plan is one time payment. We don't charge yearly or monthly :)

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Yes it's a mistake from our side & we will change it :) Thank you

Does anyone know how to build website with tutorial/source code as shown in the readyui? Buying this, I won't learn anything how's its made. I'm just a backend, API guy.

For the longest time, I really want to know how to make SF start up style landing page. I have done HTML/CSS tutorial, Bootstrap,SASS, React tutorial, none of them show example how to make site like

> forhim.com: font, color, images > scale.com: smart shapes they use for info graphics, color gradient choice > vanta.com: colors to entire structure...

Try starting with https://jekyllrb.com/showcase/

It’s actually pretty easy (on a technical level at least) to go from one of those templates to something that resembles scale.com. Bonus that it’s easy to host on GitHub for free.

Watch Adam Watham’s videos on YouTube. And buy TailwindUI.

This reminds me of Bootstrap Studio for build UI for boostrap, that is around $60 for lifetime access but saves lots of time. I will buy this when my next bootstrap project starts.

@synergy20 Sure :) you can try our free version, if you want. Looking forward to your next bootstrap project.

Cool! Would be great to have a tile checkbox/radiobutton. It's very useful instead of dropdowns with a few options.

@devops000 thanks for your comment. Stay tune.. we will release those features in our next UI kit blocks "E-com" :)

On mobile your light mode/dark mode toggle is very confusing. On light mode the website is dark but the screenshots are light, and on dark mode the website is light and the screenshots are dark

The dark mode showcases the components, not the website itself. I found it very clever that the background changes to better show off the dark/light mode.

Have any launch discount?

hey @ev1 sorry to say, we are not offering any discount.

Do you have plans to support bootstrap 5?

Hi @hanniabu.. it's based on bootstrap 5. You can check in our free version :)

The designs contain anti-patterns like centered text and carousel/sliders.

I realize that carousels can be annoying[1], but what is wrong with centered text?
