Ask HN: What interesting or hard computational challenges are you working on?

I am interested to see what are all the interesting or hard computational challenges people are working on out there. Hardware, software, data-related or algorithmic.

I am a hardware engineer with some decent math background, exploring algorithms with optical ppg data from fitness trackers (Photoplethysmogram, fancy word for the green flickering light in your fitbit) to extract features like respiration rate, blood pressure variation. There are several very challenging computation problems in this field of bio sensing.

I have built my own makeshift fitness tracker with bluetooth streaming capability and have been collecting data on myself for weeks now. Anyone from data science/machine learning side interested in collaborating?

If you want a real challenge, find a non-invasive way to count calorie intake!

I'm not sure what you mean by hard or computational challenges, but we're building a machine learning platform. There are many moving parts.
