I greatly enjoy Pulumi because it speaks the full programming languages I do (Typescript, Python, Go, etc), and gives me the full power of those languages to do stuff in the middle of my infra-setup. I always suggest it to others over Terraform and have for a few years -- it's what I run on my own infrastructure.

Terraform is built & maintained by a great great company (the amount of value Hashicorp has produced over time is basically immeasurable) changed the game, but Pulumi has taken very important steps forward in my opinion. A relationship somewhat akin to GitHub and GitLab. An example of this are the various CDKs that have followed Pulumi's lead (AWS & TF) -- maybe it was on their roadmaps all along but it sure didn't seem like it to me, I think the other platforms fast-followed Pulumi into the infra-as-code-not-DSL paradigm.

On the more concrete side, the new Automation API (that is now GA[0]), is also going to change the game. Up until now IIRC Terraform has kept this as a monetization boundary (upgrade to TF Cloud to do this), but I assume they'll come around to opening that up too.

After I evaluated DynamoDB and Fauna for my use-cases, I'm inclined to go for Fauna. I love the CDK so for non-AWS stuff Pulumi seems the right choice. But it seems that it doesn't support Fauna :(
