YouTube channel "The B1M" published quite a few videos about why supertall skyscrapers aren't interesting to build: [1], [2], [3].

To summarize: they're very expensive to build and the turnover is uncertain.

... This structure would be composed of over 3,000,000 tons of steel ... ... living and interaction with wildlife and nature ...

The only interaction with nature this monstrosity would have is by squashing it.

Not sure I agree. I'd rather have one of these than flat suburban sprawl for dozens of miles around.

Almost a would-be real life Arcology from Sim City 2000. I wonder if we’ll ever see them realised?

The precursor project: (in Russian) https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D0%B0%D1%88%D0%BD%D1%8F...

The funny story about it is that Japanese were unpleasantly shocked with architectural, and engineering plan "sounding scarily too realistic," and asked to "dumb it down a bit," for what the architect refused, and thus it went to Martin Pascoe.

I guess they were afraid of Tokyo actually asking them to go forward with it.

I'm getting some serious Judge Dredd-vibes from reading the description.

X-Seed, this is Ma-Ma...

I was expecting a HTTP header...
