Would you pay for an API for educational domains (to verify edu user accounts)?

It is nice to provide discounts to educational users. The ideal way to verify the users is through email domains.

There is an existing Ruby gem caller SWOT, but it has not been updated since 2015. Also, it doesn’t cover K-12, charter, or private schools.

I am considering creating an API to cover what SWOT does not. Is this something you would be willing to pay for? Getting all that school info is a lot of work.

I still have a `.edu` email from when I went to collage. An email domain is insufficient. Given how low the request rate is for edu discount, probably not worth paying for a service and just handling them more high touch when they do show up.
