> Bobocha launched in 1994 by Pokka: Bobocha is a blend of Chinese oolong tea leaves, Chinese Pu’er tea leaves, and sardines.

You can't just mention sardines and then not talk about it.

Yeah, that was a weird one that had no commentary about the sardines which most people would've been curious about. Instead they mention Jackie Chan multiple times and he needs no explanation!

My local Japanese & Korean food store has something called "Morning Rice", which is, I believe, basically blended rice.

It smells and tastes like liquid Shredded Wheat. It's not bad.

It's a great example of an ecosystem flourishing around a built-out infrastructure. There are canned drink vending machines on seemingly every corner (commercial and residential) in Japan.

No Pocari Sweat and no Chuhai? I wish I could find Chuhai in the US.

For me, Pocari Sweat is the king of Japanese sports drinks. It has been a few years since I visited Japan, and I still have a unopened bottle of Pocari Sweat "on standby" :)

I enjoy Pocari Sweat, but I do worry about all the pocaris that may be harmed in the process of sweating them out to manufacture the drink.

Pocari Sweat tastes like dispersible aspirin. I still don't know if I like it or not.

I think those are too mainstream for this article. From the looks of this, the products mentioned would be niche even to a Japanese audience.

Don't forget CowPiss, I mean Calpis!

Calpis halved with cclemon might be the best way to rehydrate after a night of sake

My favorite is オロナミンCドリンク. A few of these and a Pocari Sweat and some Ramen works wonders for hangovers.

This list didn't include the craziest drink I found in a Japanese vending machine - a can of Boss coffee latte.

I was expecting an iced coffee, instead it was hot enough I could barely hold the can.

Japanese vending machines are amazing. They sell both cold and hot drinks!
