I do love flameshot. I am still searching for a good Gif recorder for Linux which works with i3. On OSX a good gif recorder was licecap

I use https://github.com/phw/peek on i3wm on Manjaro without any problems. For full screen recording, OBS feels the like the best option.

peek (https://github.com/phw/peek) is decent, only issue is that setting the size of the capture area is a bit fiddly
