The Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election (time.com)

>That’s why the participants want the secret history of the 2020 election told, even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it. And they believe the public needs to understand the system’s fragility in order to ensure that democracy in America endures.

This is legitimately terrifying.

>In a way, Trump was right. There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans.

WOW, WOW, WOW. So, the bulk of the private sector was leveraged against a free and fair election (all because "this time it's different"—whataboutism run amok) and it was all completely within the law? I don't know what the name for such a system is, but it is most definitely NOT a constitutional republic, let alone a democracy.

A few months ago, that was a right-wing conspiracy theory that could lose you your job. Now it's in black-and-white in Time Magazine.

>First they came for the fascists, and I did not speak out—

>Because I was not a fascist.

>Then they came for the neo-Nazis, and I did not speak out—

>Because I was not a neo-Nazi.

>Then they came for the Republicans, and I did not speak out—

>Because I was not a Republican.

>Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

...And now we all suddenly realize what they had really meant by "fascist" and "Nazi."

Welcome to the era of leftist vengeance politics.

After 4 years of every single screen breathlessly excusing the destruction of property because the wrong guy won the election, I'm sure those violent idiots at the capital just assumed that this is what one does when one's own team loses the election. If you excuse unethical treatment of your enemy, you've already excused the same unethical treatment being directed at yourself.

The entire apparatus of the American republic is now downstream from FAANG and friends, who have no allegiance or roots and are neither checked nor balanced, and they'll never risk another fair populist election. Welcome to the post-communist, post-capitalist global technocracy.

At least it wasn't a Russian posting memes on social media. That would have been election interference.
