Op here:

In years to come we will look down on the 5 day working week in the same way we currently do with 15hr factory shifts during the industrial revolution.

It absolutely blows my mind that 99% of office roles are still 5 days / week, Monday to Friday - why is there basically no variation on this model? I'd be more than happy to work a job for 80% salary for 4 days per week...

That's why I made https://www.fourdayweek.io/

Keen to hear any feedback or suggestions. In the mean time, I'll be looking to add more jobs to the database

This is a luxury and one that most people don't have which is the reason the 5 day work week still exists.

The only way to evolve to the 4 day work week for the same wages as now is if governments passed it into law which I don't think will happen anytime soon.

I agree it is a luxury which I am grateful for, but it is quite common for many software developers (especially those without kids) given the high average salaries

I would agree in the case of the United States, especially for Silicon Valley. Most software developers in Europe wouldn't be able to afford it I would say since software developer wages are much more in line with the national averages.

I think it's a great initiative though.

Congrats on the launch/relaunch! The site looks great! One thing I would like as a job-seeker is a way to sort/filter by full time jobs where everyone works 4 day weeks vs. hourly jobs. I know I can work less than 40 hours as a contractor pretty much wherever I want, but companies that actually give full benefits and a salary that's comparable to 40 hours are more rare.

Thanks - totally agree! I've started collecting data on benefits such as healthcare, dental and pension. Will hopefully get it added to the interface soon
