I've found the effects enjoyable and kind of impressive (what does it do to sound?) but tinged with paranoia about brain damage from breathing non-oxygen for a long time. I didn't realize it was addictive.
I didn't realize it was addictive either when I read about philosopher William James experiments with it and decided to try it myself. Maybe I have ocd in this particular case and it is fine for other people, but I couldn't stop.
