I wonder, it must be a frequently flooded area, or else he would never have the time to build such a wall fast enough... Then it means he has to leave with a huge wall around his house all the time. Quite insane.

But still, awesome.

Reminds me of playing on the beach as a kid. Just much bigger.


If there's one thing that really irks me about Reddit, it's when folks link to photos and images without any context or attribution. I should hope that HN does not follow suit with more direct-to-image links like this. I appreciate that folks in the comments have done the legwork already, but those links should be what's posted, not a single image.



That's usually the result of attempts like this. The original picture is a remarkably thick and sturdy-looking dirt wall; I have to wonder whether the cost of building it approached the cost of that house.


That is pretty insane.
