With the farcical extradition hearing[0] I did not expect this, not at all.

Perhaps things changed behind the scenes?


This is an important step, and reminder, that governments can and should be held to account for things such as human rights violations.

It is extremely disappointing that there are no whistle blower laws that can provide adequate protection for leaders of such things. Like Julian, they will likely be hounded for life.


"Lawyers for US authorities are appealing against the ruling at the Old Bailey, which rejected arguments that the WikiLeaks co-founder would not get a fair trial in the US but blocked extradition on the basis that procedures in prisons there would not prevent him from potentially taking his own life."

I think the judge stopped the extradition because of inadequate conditions regarding mental health and suicide prevention in US prisons. On other issues(publishing materials) the British Judge sides with the US authorities.
