>As more people choose to not use Facebook, employees leave the company, and users choose to delete data from Facebook, they will lose their data advantage, and soon their talent advantage.
Strongly disagree until the data actually shows this; Facebook is not losing users nor employees en masse, despite the media constantly attempting to imply this (check their quarterly filings, MAUs, and so on), and although it's correct that they have a bit of a brand crisis with many end-users, it doesn't extend to products like Instagram and Oculus (among other future ones) as much as we may believe, as both are also thriving and likely to remain as such.
I don't mean to say FB will 'win' an AI war, but I think they will be a highly-relevant company for a long time to come in more ways than one, even if the original FB platform ends up being less important.
It's a future prediction, agree aggregate status don't show it yet, but the people who drive long-term trends (for example, the early adopters of Facebook) no longer use it, and the brand crisis I think is only going to continue.
Totally agree that Facebook isn't going to vanish any time soon, I'm just saying that basically they won't win because people are slowly but steadily losing trust in them, and they will lose their data & talent advantage.
People are also becoming more willing to pay for software over time, I think/hope the pendulum will swing back to the "user pays for product" model. We'll see!
