Hi HN friends, I'm genuinely curious to know how you are setting compensation for remote employees.
- Do you consider cost of living?
- Do you allocate an additional office setup package?
- Pay everyone the same? (e.g. Datacamp)
- Create a salary calculator? (e.g. GitLab)
I wish more companies would adopt GitLab's salary calculator approach, IMHO it is probably the one most fair.
They help companies set up compensation plans and put together a calculator for this.
