This is a little tidbit of the internet that is not web2.0 js react ad infested and people are hating on it? C'mon, it's someone's personal podcast where they talk about what they want. If topics such as anarchism and human rights are important to him, he has a platform to shout out his beliefs from.

This site is difficult to navigate and understand. The main page isn't organized chronologically. And while the archive lists seasons, Seasons 3-8 all have the same modification date in 2019, whereas Seasons 9-11 all have the same modification date in 2018. Consequently, I have no idea when these audio shows were recorded. Moreover, there are no descriptions of the contents to tell the listener which topics are discussed, so that they can choose to listen to one that piques their interest.
Honestly I am literally shaking with rage over the top center image. Put so damn much effort into beautiful symmetry and then just said fuck it with the one blank space to the left of “Welcome to” but TWO blank spaces to the right of it? I mean wtf was he/she thinking?
wow ya'll, it's a podcast. i can see the relevant content, the episode listing guide quit easily, perfectly fine. there's a header/banner that says what it is that makes it obviously clear:
> "GNU World Order is an internet audio show about GNU, Linux, UNIX, and other technical and geeky topics. I release this show in open source audio formats. This is an anarcho-syndacalist, anti-facist, and pro-human-rights podcast. I stand in solidarity with all people of colour, of marginalised communities, and the oppressed around the globe. Leave your ad blockers on."
it gives me the info that's relevant quickly, & without distraction. episodes & their contents are listed on the main page 3 years back, to the beginning of 2018. indeed it seems >3 years ago, the author did not have good show notes.
Just so you know, I really enjoy listening to you talk about the programs in the Slackware a\ package. Love the podcast. Been listening to it since the beginning. Good stuff!
GNU World Order was started by Seth Kenlon (Klaatu, also known as notKlaatu) who's an active member of the Linux/OS community and very interesting fellow.

How much does fascism come up wrt operating systems? It seems a bit out of left field unless it's rhetoric to overthrow project leaders that consider themselves "BDFL"s. Even if that is the case it's incredibly melodramatic melodramatic to conflate LKML with Der Sturmer. I don't think project management strategies necessarily line up with political systems.
> How much does fascism come up wrt operating systems?
It's not strictly related to operating systems but it's been coming up in many online forums around all sort of topics.
Look at some discussion groups around well-known software projects and you'll find people dropping far-right dog whistles, arguments around someone's pronouns and the occasional flamewar.
I'm curious to what extent that article is intended to be taken seriously. It makes a lot of big claims and uses a lot of very charged language without much substance to back it up.
The implication that trans women are good at computer science because most languages use 0-indexed arrays sounds like pseudoscientific numerology to me. As well as their claim that using the yannic bit 0 is a way of rising above the phallic "1".
This reads like a piece of bad misandrist science fiction, i.e. a modern academic paper drowning in critical theory. Pretty entertaining, but frightening when you realize it’s probably taken seriously by its author and others.
Not much more than that fascists can use them. For the rest all this rhetoric about fascism, racism, trans-activism and other critical-theory related issues does nothing but drive a wedge between those who are in support of deconstruction and those who oppose it - there is no middle position here. It is a small but vocal minority which supports this, that is why it keeps on cropping up everywhere. Unfortunately the majority of those who oppose it are afraid to say so out of fear of being ostracized or cancelled.
I've been a volunteer for the GNU project for many years but I vehemently oppose this type of activism. It doesn't help the project, it doesn't help forwarding is goals, it only serves to brand the project and in extension free software as yet another thing to be shunned by those who do not hold with critical theory.
Slackware: it's still alive. People still use it. ;)
This is a podcast. Most episodes seem to be the host Klaatu going through standard packages included in Slackware. There's some decent general discussion, half general Linux , half Slackware specific, in the couple shows I've gone through. I need to listen to some of the more general show topics. It's a great masthead. "This podcast is founded in the ideals of anarcho-syndacalism, anti-facism, and human rights". I haven't listened to any of the more cereberal shows yet.
I very much look forward to those who DO mix politics and tech. Code becomes law. We can not deny our broader impacts & roles.
Does this name violate the GNU trademark? I think a reasonable case could be made that the FSF using the "GNU [xyz]" format for all of their products could make this appear to be an endorsement. IANAL but this seems like it could be an issue for them
