I'm stunned by the fact they have a graph comparing two stock tickers by share price. Do they not realize that comparison is essentially meaningless (without market cap, etc)? If you look at YTD performance Copart is actually doing worse than the competitor they're comparing against...
You gotta understand, once you're not in the top 4 newspapers, it's people working for almost free just pooping out articles. Then G/O Media got Spanfeller from this exact crummy magazine, and now even their properties are suffering.
I was buying from copart 10 years ago, since then it has gotten hugely popular the prices have become basically uneconomical for rebuilding the cars. I guess this wont be a long lived success as everyone tries to jump on this train. Back in the day you could get great deals and have a very nice car to drive after some repairs, today you are better off buying a used car for a few $$ more without the salvage title.
Copart are notorious for loading up sales with hidden fees. Lots of angry Youtube videos on this.
They took a relatively unsophisticated business that sells cars by oral auction, and turned that into a business that receives a hundred billion dollars a year in bids online. Not a good way to buy car parts.
