Personally? I have a few jobs that gave me a ton of cross functional experience but were really shitty jobs that made me completely burned out and not want to do any work anymore. However, the discussion and design phase still really interested me so I took up PM. I get to do the part I still enjoy and skip the past I no longer want to do.
