To VCs: ELT is not the disruption – Data Engineering is

Folks, after Snowflake IPO and Dbt funding there is a lot of euphoria and FUD as I talked to some VCs. This doesn't match up when I talk to customers, so trying to clarify what's actually going on.

This is quite a difficult post to follow. It wasn't really clear what the caution was, other than the ELT movement is a subset of data engineering? I think I agree with the post but I wasn't really sure!

I agree. We are seeing data teams get funding of their own and grow the practice. That has resulted in investment in real tools to make things better.
