I really hope I can play all my games on linux one day. Right now I only play Age of empires 2 definitive edition, anybody knows if i can play it ranked on linux?

Age of Empires 2 is rated Platinum on ProtonDB [0]. This should mean it will work flawlessly without any tweaking.

I've played some online ranked in Linux with DE. On some of the older patches I had random crashes upon reaching castle age so I'm currently sticking to windows though.

I have all versions of AoE in my steam library, currently none of those are playable on Linux. Not surprising since the games are developed by Microsoft.

You could try Wine, I haven't tried that.

From ProtonDB:

Age of Empires 2 (2013) - Platinum

Age of Empires 3 - Gold

Age of Empires 2 - Gold

Age of Empires - Gold

So not definitive edition ? :(

Apparently the 'Age of Empires 2' from that listing is the definitive edition. It's rated Gold so should work in most cases.

I've played 4v4 ranked on DE with friends without any (WINE-specific) crashes. This was about 6 months ago, so it's likely things are even more stable now.

Haha, here I was thinking that I had 'all versions'.

I have in my library:

AoE

AoE 2

AoE 2 HD

AoE 2 Definitive Edition

None of them show up in my Linux steam library.

Ah, you'll need to enable proton for all games in settings

Steam -> Settings -> Steam Play and tick "Enable Steam Play for all titles"
