For some reason I'm getting a vague image of some sort of black monolith in the back of my mind and some weird screeching noises. Hard to describe, but I'm often right about things like this.

No, no. They probably found a geoglyph representation of light being split by a prism, like the figures in Nazca grasslands of Peru. And features suggestive of a theater or forum...definitely some sort of meeting place.
