Haiku: Call for Wallpapers (haiku-os.org)

I spent a few minutes searching: Where can someone download an SVG of the logo? A google search for Haiku logo doesn't appear to give me an official source for the logo: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Haiku%20logo

I also clicked around the pages, and I found the trademark guide, but no "press kit" or the like.

I googled: 'Haiku Logo SVG' and within literally seconds it brought me to this page [0] and got the logo (in white) from there [1].

That was easier than I expected actually. Although I do agree that they need to sort out an official press images or logos on their site.

What a great OS, its low latency make the mouse motion almost instantaneous. I can only imagine what feels like to use it paired with a crt monitor.

I ran BeOS off and on for a couple of years right around the time when they dropped PowerPC for Intel.

It truly was awesome, nothing I've used since then made me as happy. Gobe Productive still has a place in my heart.

Programming it was madness though, since everything was MT all the time.

What OS doesn't make mouse motion almost instantaneous? Ok I know Linux sometimes has issues, but Windows and Mac handle this fine.

I had entirely forgotten about tiled wallpapers. There used to be a website with tons of melty textured tile wallpapers. Does anyone remember what that was called and if it still exists?

You're thinking of Bowie J Poag's Propaganda series, I bet.

Bingo! That’s exactly what I was thinking. Glad to see it still exists somewhere.

Hmm... nostalgia might force me to do this. Wonder how they’ll look on my 4k flatscreen.

The answer is that they look fantastic.

I don't know about melty, but I like www.subtlepatterns.com tiles

Hearing '.wonderbrush' file format for the first time. It seems that wonderbrush is Haiku Graphics Tool.

> Send your work to humdingerb (at) gmail and bitigchi (at) me.

What domain is the second email address talking about?

Likely the Apple iCloud domain, me.com

me.com, iCloud

Someone please make these great people a great wallpaper!

I don't mean for this to be flippant - where is Haiku used today? Does anyone use it to get work done? Desktop or server?

Haiku is used in production by TuneTracker Systems (and it's resellers) for radio automation.

I love this! Thanks for sharing! Haiku is a beautiful OS.

If anyone involved with the project is reading here - as one of the calls is specifically for variations on the Haiku logo, it would probably be a good idea to provide links to SVG versions of the Haiku logo. That'll definitely lower the barrier to entry for folks looking to do you a free art!

Sure, I eventually found the same link via Google search too. But it should still be on the call for submissions page, if they want people to use it as a basis for variations.

I grabbed it from the header! And you're not wrong.

Why wouldn't they accept png format submissions? I create stuff (mostly super-simple tiled backgrounds) in Kolourpaint and I always save as png.

It's so hard to get attention in October 2020. Great promotional idea.
