Modern NVMe reads can reach over 7GB/s (like Kingston DCP1000 or 980 Pro), so this is not at the limit yet.


I'm a little surprised that the IO performance in the article is so poor. I think it is because they effectively have at most 1 operation outstanding per thread. Thus there is no benefit to having the MD setup. I think they would get the same performance with a single SSD.
