Open Standards in eMobility, powered by technology take charge. With end-user needs taken into account, a good option to widely adapt to various mobility providers is no longer an option. Deloitte rep https://www2.deloitte.com/content/dam/Deloitte/uk/Documents/... forecasts:
~45,000 EV sold in 2018 (1.9% of all vehicles sold)
~7-10 million EVs in circulation by 2030
This requires ~28,000 PUBLIC Charge Points by 2030
eMobility Service Providers (eMSP) and Charge Point Operators (CPO) can cooperate on many levels, reducing costs and increasing the net.
What about the physical component though? I don't have an electric car so I'm guessing there is some kind of standard plug or does that need standardized as well? And is this different for hybrids that plug in when compared to fully electric vehicles?
I know that some startups are developing standardized plugs for accessible charging and various billing methods. I wouldn't be surprised if any time soon EU would impose such standards, and probably with one app users would be able to connect to any charging station.
