That's nice, but I don't think it's nearly enough, nor is it quick enough. The headline "Just Saved the World" is misleading as hell.

How does this help stop the methane releases? While CO2 is directly involved in making this mess, it is a minor warming gas in comparison to methane. We're going to need to geoengineer to fix the problem we have now, which is how to stop catastrophe in the next two decades. As the artic continues to melt, releasing more methane hydrates and gaseous methane in the Siberian tundra, we face the potential for a temperature inversion in the Atlantic. That could stop the currents that shape our weather, upon which billions of lives depend.

Our problem isn't simple. It's a mixture of natural processes and anthropogenic acceleration. We need to use technology, correctly, to survive.

I suspect a major part of the difference between CO2 and methane is the economic angles.

We always knew what to do, but free-market/democratic systems could never get the political momentum for it. The scientists had to make their case against a large pro-CO2 lobby (the coal and existing electric industries) wielding a major economic bludgeon.

I don't think methane has those same champions. The regulations and tech will face much less blowback.
