> Critically acclaimed creators of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonored, Quake, Starfield and more join Team Xbox
What? All good games published by Bethesda were MADE by other studios. Only the Elder Scrolls were made by them that holds critical acclaim despite/because of bag of various funny bugs.
DOOM, Fallout NewVegas, Wolfenstein, Dishonored etc were good probably because Bethesda had no or limited input (latest Wolfenstein was quite bad and that might be due to Bethesda pushing some trends to be in the game).
I hope this doesn't mean exclusive xbox titles (of course it means that... but one can hope).
Xbox, probably, but PC should still be good.. Microsoft has abandoned making all their titles exclusive to their little box in the living room in recent years.
Probably depends on the franchise and will be decided on title by title basis. After all Minecraft is on many more platforms today than before the acquisition.
I don't think their plan is to make them exclusives. MS makes lots of money from PS (i.e. Minecraft). What I can see is Fallout New Vegas 2, TES6 or any other big game, being free with Game Pass and 70€ for PS5. And you can already see this with The Outer Worlds & Minecraft Dungeons.
That's a power move that wouldn't make half of the consumer base annoyed at you and make everyone want to buy an XSX with the 35€ payment plan. I also hope this pushes Sony to be more competitive with their "exclusive" titles.
The Outer Worlds had already entered a publishing deal with Private Division before Microsoft acquired Obsidian, and Minecraft was already a released product.. I wouldn't hold your breath given that Obsidian's upcoming titles Grounded and Avowed are both Xbox/Windows 10 exclusive.
It's possible they'll think on Fallout, TES or other franchises that already have a long history on Playstation being available there.. but I doubt it.
They will likely be exclusive to Microsoft’s so-called Microsoft Store. Microsoft (and the other game vendors) really needs to stop pretending to have an App Store. Valve owns this space on the PC and it belongs to them. Microsoft does not get to have one.
Doesn't seem like it.. Halo, Gears of War 5, Flight Simulator 2020.. those are all on Steam as well as the Microsoft store. It does require you to login after launching those titles on Steam but it's all contained with-in the game, and apparently with a small enough amount of crazy middleware that you can even play Halo The Master Chief Collection under Linux using Proton. I think Microsoft is very much aware that trying to keep major games like these exclusive to the Microsoft store isn't a great idea, a lot of people never open, let alone use it.
Everyone I've talked to has said they're leaning towards the PS5 because their exclusives are so much hotter than Xbox's. Halo is the last thread holding people to Xbox, and even that is weakening because it's available on PC now.
Looks like MSFT is attempt to correct the imbalance here.
Forza games is the best exclusive serie of Microsoft for me. Forza Motorsport is a really good simulation and Forza Horizon are the funiest arcadish race games I've played in the recent years.
