Ask HN: What’s the karma threshold for downvote ability

From HN’s FAQ:

What’s the threshold? Can the threshold change?

When last seen it was 501, I think.

I searched google and that brought up the FAQ, where it’s not explicitly stated. I expected it to be there so that prompted the question.
