I assume that Places will be used for Foursquare-style or Facebook --uh, Places-- -style checkins.

It is patently absurd to grant a trademark for a common English word for use in an area of application that is the word's normal meaning.

Seems like a pretty generic name to try and trademark, considering how long Google has been using the name Places could Apple even trademark it?
