What would you recommend for site hosting instead of S3?

I'm not sure where the article author is going with this, but the official way to host a static web site on S3 with HTTPS is to use ACM and CloudFront:

Netlify or Zeit. Save yourself the pain. AWS will almost certainly never come close to the dev experience of those 2 vendors. (Book co-author)
