Hi all, I've been trying to join the gig economy in recent months to finance my solo work, but it's been substantially harder than I anticipated. So far I've had slight luck with manual labor on Craigslist gigs, but I live in a medium-sized city in the northwest where work is somewhat seasonal. I haven't tried DoorDash or Uber Eats yet. Upwork.com and Freelancer.com seem saturated, with roughly 10-25 applications (sometimes 75+!!) per gig that I have skills for. Also many of the projects are based overseas so don't support the buying power needed to work from the US (this has accelerated notably due to globalization since I last looked 5 years ago).
My question is, does anyone know of a freelance site where you simply join a team? I'd like to be able to walk onto a project without all of the vetting red tape and hassle of spitballing dozens of gigs. I'd also like to move freely between projects without the long-term commitment of a full-time remote job. It seems to me that this would suit the needs of clients, since they are mostly looking for pinch hitters to execute quickly, without the overhead of hiring a consulting firm.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
