They make their money selling you overpriced hardware. This won't happen. Well maybe it would but then every part of the ATX Mac Board would also be sold by Apple and third party RAM etc would never be allowed.

Right. Plus, it would only take Apple to start using a custom firmware to only allow hardware that is exclusive to Apple’s computers.
