Ask HN: Effects of the 2018 Blurred Lines copyright case?

I was arguing with someone who supported the verdict the other day and I made the claim that this would open the floodgates for a deluge of litigation.

His reply was "So - has it?" and I realised I had no idea.

So - has it? And if not, why not?

At the time it felt like a massive broadening of IP law and I presumed that a lots of existing music could fall under it's shadow.
