I don't understand what the motivations for this are...does someone really think this will create revenue? Maybe by going viral or just through shock value?
Some people are just horrible people. I'd be more surprised to find out this isn't more idiots from 4chan thinking they're funny than to find out it is.
Well I have a theory. The article mentions that some of the videos are being posted on Hindi language channels. India has some pretty restrictive pornography laws. According to the wikipedia page I just read, it's illegal to publish or transmit pornography in India. I think this is some ass backwards attempt to circumvent pornography distribution laws in India.
Well, per the article it affects your searches and similar videos pop up. Maybe they'll get enough traffic to...I don't know. It doesn't seem like YouTube monetization is an achievable goal, right?
Maybe hotlinking? Or some wierd grooming attempt?
But the guy below who suspects it's censor circumvention makes sense- it seems to be something like a dirty CD set to a coloring program.
Children probably aren't the target, but victims still.

Is youtube kids actually moderated/filtered before being available to kids or is 'automatically moderated' like the rest of youtube?
given youtubes absolute lack of attempt to meaningfully moderate most content I'm not sure I'd be comfortable trusting them to moderate content for kids.
In the 19th century anti-pornography activists claimed that perverts would throw pornographic prints over the walls of schoolyards because the perverts supposedly got off on "corrupting" upper-class children.
Sounds a bit implausible.
Perhaps these youtubers are trying to get around internet filters?
Does anyone think it’s 4chan/8chan-types trolling because they have nothing better to do or malicious competitors/state actors trying to disrupt YT because they want to see it harmed?
