Ask HN: How to Manage Kids Devices?
4 points by tmottabr on Dec 3, 2019 | hide | past | favorite
i have kids and they like to play games and watch stuff in netflix and youtube (only what me and their mother approve), specially if are out in a situation that they are required to attend but is not fully kids friendly, some examples a family bbq that there are no other kids around for them to play, while me and their mother buy groceries, things like that were they end up bored.

For them to stop using the grown-ups devices (and using up all our batteries) am configuring some old phones we have around (iphone 5s, iphone 5c and an android tabled) just for them to use.

In previous threads i saw people commenting on using stuff like intunes and other "enterprise" provisioning systems to handle the device management.

At the moment we are doing things very manually, we just use screen time and guides access (and the android equivalent when available) to limit what they can do, but we have to configure each device, and blocking the store makes a pain to upgrade the apps later.

I am looking for others experiences on how are you handling your younglins devices and their access to the world, what is working for you and what does not.
