Lucky for me, I never got to patch for Spectre or Meltdown in the BIOS upgrades for my Razer Blade because they only support Windows 10 as a BIOS upgrade option so you can have a GUI experience for what could be done with a bin file on a USB.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding was that Linux updates microcode by itself, has nothing to do with BIOS.
EDIT: depends on the distro

Also, some vendors support putting the single-file updater .exe on a USB stick and upgrading from the BIOS directly:
