I worked in WSL for a week. Then Microsoft decided to automatically reboot my system while I was sleeping. I lost a weeks worth of work.
WSL is cute but it is a toy. Microsoft doesn't value your work. Stick with a real linux distro. My linux boxes all have uptimes of hundreds of days, since our last full day power outage.
I am sorry for your loss... but if you're keeping unsaved data around for a week, you do rather have yourself to blame. I would never leave work at the end of a day without ensuring that all of the day's work is safely persisted to disk - there's no excuse for doing otherwise.

Props to the WSL team. They made such a nice toy.
